We show both counts. "Characters" includes spaces, while "Characters (no spaces)" excludes them.

Does it accurately count Japanese characters?

Yes. Hiragana, katakana, kanji, and full-width symbols are each counted as one character.

No. All processing happens in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers. Text is cleared when you close the page.
